DIY Eyeshadow Palette.
I’ve been doing this for a while now and I wanted to share this with you guys. It’s how you can make your own eyeshadows and your own pigments! You can also repair broken powders and eyeshadows with this technique. Let me show you how!
The things you will need:
- Old or cheap eyeshadows.
- Empty eyeshadow or palette pans.
- Something to scrape out the eyeshadows.
- Rubbing alcohol.
- Kitchen roll.
- Something that fits into the pans.
Step 1: Scrape with your tool of choice the eyeshadow into powder.
Step 2: Put the powder in the container. Make sure you get every single bit out of the pans, so it’s easier to clean the pans!
Step 3: Now with your tool, crush the little chunks so it’s an even powder. This way it will look much better when you transfer it to you new pans.
Step 4: Empty all the pans and clean your empty palette with rubbing alcohol, so it’s nice and clean!
These are all the pigments I have collected so far. Some are from old palettes that I didn’t use anymore, and some are just cheap eyeshadows that I bought for this “hobby”. I have almost all basic colors so I can mix and match my own! I started doing this because (of course) I love makeup, but also because sometimes I want a particular color that I can never find anywhere so I thought, why won’t make my own?! Now you can have every color you like in just one palette, fix broken ones or grab all your favorite colors and transfer them into one big palette to have less of a mess!
Step 5: It’s time to make your own colors! YAY! I wanted a darker purple with a blue undertone. I took a big part of purple, a little bit of blue and a tiny bit of black. You can make every color you like, so play a little with your imagination!
Step 6: Grab your tool and mix the colors well together! If you don’t like the color you can always add more.
Step 7: Now add some rubbing alcohol to it to make a paste. Not too much not too little.
Step 8: Now grab your tool again and mix it well together. The consistency needs to look like toothpaste.
Step 9: Scrape the paste into the pan!
Step 10: Grab an object as big as the pan. This dice fitted perfectly in this pan so I used that.
Step 11: Grab your kitchen roll and put it around your object like the picture.
Step 12: Press it firmly into the pan. Do this a couple of times with new paper towel until no fluid is coming out anymore. And there you have it!
Step 13: Now leave them to dry overnight, the alcohol will dissolve once it’s dry. Now they’re ready to use! These are the colors I made! I also made a single bronze eyeshadow and a highlighter. What do you think? I really like them!
Here are some swatches from the eyeshadows. There are quite pigmented and I really like how the turned out! I made a purple with blue undertone, dark green, blue, gold, light pink, bright pink, bronze and highlighter!
I hope this DIY comes in handy to you! Maybe it will become your hobby as well, It’s really fun! What color would you make? Let me know in the comments!
