Real Techniques – Miracle Complexion Sponge | Review.

Hi guys! Today I’m reviewing the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge! This little beauty sponge is amazing, so if you wanna know more about it and want to know what I think then keep on reading!

My old beauty sponge I ripped to pieces by accident while cleaning it, so I needed a new one. My local drugstore started selling Real Techniques and then I saw the Miracle Complexion Sponge, I needed to try it! I did hear some things about it but the opinions were a bit mixed so I decided to test it myself, spoiler alert, I love it!

Here he is! The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. It is bright orange and has one flat side which I think is super handy.

What Real Techniques says:

This versatile beauty tool was designed with a revolutionary foam technology to evenly blend makeup for a smooth, enhanced finish. Use damp for a dewy glow or dry for a full coverage.

  • rounded sides blend large areas of the face with a dabbing motion
  • precision tip covers blemishes and imperfections
  • flat edge for contouring around the eyes and nose
  • ideal for liquid foundation
  • latex-free

For best results, replace your makeup sponge every 1-3 months.

This is the back of the box where you can find some information, also about Sam and Nic who created Real Techniques.

Now that I took it out of his little cozy box we can take a good look at it. The sponge is pretty big, bigger than a Beauty Blender. It looks really similar the only difference is that is has one flat edge, but I do think that that will come in handy.

On this picture you can see the flat bit even better. I’ve used the sponge wet and dry, but I think it works and blends better when you use it wet/damp, I don’t really see a difference in coverage with the different methods, it only looks more natural and glowy when you use it damp. It does get super big when you dampen it which is also very funny.

The sponge feels really soft and it doesn’t feel like your hitting yourself in the face with a rock. Especially when you dampen it it is extremely soft.

Blending liquid foundation works really well, also concealer is no problem with this sponge. It still does take more time than when you use a brush but the finish is really lovely. I had no problems with applying foundation or concealer. I mostly used the flat end to blend foundation into my skin, for concealer I mostly used the pointed side, and I also powdered my under eyes with the pointed side which also worked pretty well. The flat edge is really nice to apply your foundation with and it is also really nice to clean up your contour with that edge.

All by all I’m really happy with this sponge and I will continue using it, I love it! I hope I don’t tear this one to shreds though haha! I think this is a really nice alternative for the Beauty Blender, It’s still really good, it has a very useful flat side and it is a lot more affordable!

– The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge retails for $6.00 or £4.93 or € 5,99.

I liked this sponge well enough, but it kept tearing every time I washed it 🙁 I also noticed that it eats up a lot of product, Glad you like it! 🙂

I never tried the “real” Beauty Blender yet I think it’s so much money for a little sponge! It’s just unreal. I’m liking this one at the moment and It’s a lot cheaper too! 🙂 X

Great review! I love the Real Techniques sponge but my favourite beauty sponge is the black one which comes in the Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Blend Collection. I’ll say it-I prefer it to the beauty blender!

Thanks! Oh I never know they had one as well 😮 I really love this one, I think the Beauty Blender is way too expensive for a simple little sponge. X

Love this sponge! I ended up replacing my Beauty Blender with it! It worked the same for me. Only difference was that the RT sponge tears easier so I have to be careful when washing it!

Mine didn’t tear (yet) Let’s keep our fingers crossed that it won’t for a while haha. Thanks for reading love X

I love this sponge I have two currently and one sadly died not too long ago. For the price can’t really go wrong and they last such a long time. Never tried a beauty blender but heard good things about that also, might need to invest!

    Great post! 🙂

I also never tried the real Beauty Blender before, I just think it’s a bit overpriced for a little sponge. I do really love this one, it’s affordable and I love the flat side! 🙂 X

Yeah that is exactly why I haven’t gotten one yet, it is a bit steep for what it is. I have heard good things about the silicone ones that don’t absorb product, a few of my friends have tried them I like them but there are so many on the market. They are flat as well which I think would be awkward for parts of the face. I like the different angles on the Real Techniques one! xo

I only heard not so good things about the silicone ones haha! I just stick with the normal sponges, my foundation never runs empty anyway haha! Thanks for reading love! X
